Lesson 1 – Educational Theory

Lesson 2 – Accommodations for Diverse Learners
Objectives: • Understand diverse learning needs beyond the traditional modalities. • Explore alternative accommodation strategies. • Apply these strategies to create inclusive lesson plans.

Lesson 3 – Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)
This session will delve into the communicative approach, focusing on how to foster real-world communication in the classroom. Teachers will explore practical ways to encourage student interaction and meaningful use of language. Key Focus: CLT theory, designing communicative activities, improving student interaction.

Lesson 4 – Task-Based Learning (TBL) in Practice
Participants will explore the principles of task-based learning (TBL), focusing on how to create lessons that use meaningful tasks to engage students. Teachers will learn how to integrate tasks that promote language use in authentic contexts. Key Focus: Designing and implementing task-based activities, fostering autonomy.

Lesson 5 – The Flipped Classroom Approach
This lesson will cover the flipped classroom model, focusing on strategies for delivering content outside class time and maximizing active learning during lessons. Teachers will practice designing flipped lessons and using video or online content effectively. Key Focus: Flipping lessons, managing pre-class materials, enhancing in-class engagement.

Lesson 6 – Incorporating Digital Tools in the ESL Classroom
Participants will explore a range of digital tools, from educational apps to online platforms, that can enhance the ESL learning experience. This session will focus on how to use technology to engage students and facilitate interactive learning. Key Focus: Integrating digital tools, enhancing online and hybrid learning environments.

Lesson 7 – Engaging Teenage Learners
This session will address the specific challenges and needs of teaching teenagers. Teachers will discuss motivational strategies and classroom management techniques tailored to teenage learners, with a focus on creating engaging, age-appropriate content. Key Focus: Teen psychology, motivation strategies, handling classroom dynamics.

Lesson 8 – Reflecting and Implementing New Strategies
In the final session, participants will reflect on the methodologies they have explored and share how they plan to implement these strategies in their teaching. Teachers will present short lesson plans incorporating new methods, receiving peer and instructor feedback. Key Focus: Reflection, peer review, applying new methodologies.

Lesson 9 – Using Authentic Materials
We introduced the topic of using authentic materials in the classroom, rather than relying solely on course books. The group discussed why students may find course books disengaging, such as the prevalence of text-heavy content that does not cater to diverse learning styles.
